Nuits-Saint-Georges
Le Coteau des Bois 2023
Nuits-Saint-Georges is one of those magical names that visitors recite like a rosary. Known the whole world over, Nuits-Saint-Georges has the original profile of a genuine wine village, but on the scale of a small town.
Origin
Famed the world over, Nuits-Saint-Georges has the original character of a true wine village but the size of a small town. Halfway between Dijon and Beaune, and with an easterly exposure, the vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges spread over 6 kilometres, with 160ha of Village-appelation vines. The range of soils, exposure and locations here creates a great diversity of terroirs. The area is bisected by the valley of the Meuzin river, and the village itself.
The grapes were selected a ten meters or so from our winery, "Les Ursulines", on the plot "Le Coteau des Bois". This very deep plot is exposed full-east and adjacent to the Bois de Charmois.

Vintage
Fruity and generous
The 2023 vintage experienced unpredictable weather conditions, making work in the vineyards essential for grape quality. Harvesting began in early September under intense heat with the Chardonnays to avoid over-ripening, followed by the reds. The whites will spend two winters in the cellar, while the Pinot Noirs will have undergone short ageing to preserve the fruity aromas. A vintage that brings out the best in each terroir, offering wines that are bright and delicious.
Ageing potential: from 6 to 9 years.
Tasting notes
With its beautiful ruby color, this wine reveals a lightly toasted initial nose, followed by an intense bouquet of red fruits, combined with subtle notes of leather and licorice. On the palate, this fresh, fruity wine offers an elegant sensation of sweetness. It is structured and supported by a fine acidic structure and a lovely, long finish.
