Origin

Halfway between Dijon and Beaune, and looking east, the vineyard of Nuits-Saint-Georges extends over 6 km for 160 ha in the village appellation. The difference of soils, orientations, and situations causes a great diversity of soils. All cut in two by the valley of Meuzin and the village.
The "Belle Croix" plot is located below the "Les Pruliers" Premier Cru, to the south of the village and offers a calcareous brown soil resting on a thick layer of silt.
The name of this climate refers to the cross overlooking the parcel, a memory of a 16th century chapel, dismantled during the French Revolution.

This parcel is part since the 2016 vintage of our vines in direct supply.

The grapes were handpicked. They were sorted a first time in the vineyard and again on the sorting table when they arrived at the winery.

Ageing

Maturation: aged on the lees for 10 months with no racking using a proportion of 50% new French oak barrels.
Barrels: French oak barrels that had been toasted at low temperatures for a long time to impart a very delicate touch of oak to the wine.

Bottling

Bottling: The wine was not fined but was very gently filtered before being bottled using gravity in September 2023.

Vintage

Abundance and excellence!
Despite the drought, we saw consistent volumes combined with quality. Almost no sorting was required as the grapes were superb. The winemaking process went smoothly. Perfect conditions offering the potential for some very fine wines.
Ageing potential: from 7 to 10 years.

Tasting notes

With its beautiful ruby color, this wine reveals aromas of black fruits, cherry pits and slightly woody notes. The palate is very supple on the attack, greedy with fine tannins.
