Origin

The village is located at the heart of the Côte de Nuits, between Vougeot and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The vines grow at an ideal altitude of approximately 250 metres and cover just over 150 ha.
"Les Jacquines" is located south of the appellation, Nuits-Saint-Georges side, and this is the name of a land that has certainly belonged to Mr Jacquinot de Richemont, a memeber of Parliament from Dijon who, as far as we know, was a big land owner in the lieux-dits neighbouring "La Tâche".

Viticulture

Grape variety: pinot noir
Soils: limestone scree resting on marls.
Orientation: South/East
Pruning: Guyot system
verage age of the vines: 40 years old.

Vinification

Harvest date: 10 September 2015.
The grapes were handpicked. They were sorted a first time in the vineyard and again on the sorting table when they arrived at the winery.
At the winery: the grapes were 50% destemmed but not crushed (they were left whole) and were gravity-fed into tanks. Maceration with 50% of entire grapes lasted a total of 23 days including one week of cold maceration (12°C). Fermentation used indigenous yeasts only (no additives such as enzymes or tannins were used). Infrequent punching of the cap (8 maximum).

Ageing

Maturation: aged on the lees for 16 months with no racking, 30% of new French oak barrels.
Barrels: French oak barrels that had been toasted at low temperatures for a long time to impart a very delicate touch of oak to the wine.

Bottling

Bottling: the wine was not fined but was very gently filtered before being bottled using gravity in February 2017.

Vintage

2015, excellence!
A memorable year which was nearly a disaster in terms of weather, but some late-season rain saved this small harvest. The fruit was magnificent, and produced some lovely juice. Ageing was handled very gently to preserve the aromatic qualities and lovely color of this very promising wine.
Ageing potential: 10 years and more.

Tasting notes

The color is brilliant ruby red with purple reflections. The delicate nose exudes aromas of strawberries, blueberries, blackcurrant and some notes of fur. On the palate, this wine which is of great nobility offers a perfect balance between richness and tannins.
